I am a painter working primarily with oil paint, creating figurative paintings that depict the self-portraits within intimate, often dreamlike spaces. Rooted in my experience of growing up in Korea and living in the United States, my paintings draw on memory, cultural narratives, and the shifting sense of identity within the Asian diaspora. I use my own nude body as both subject and symbol, creating intimate, psychologically charged images that embrace honesty and vulnerability while reclaiming the female figure as a site of resilience and self-definition. Through color, gesture, and symbolic imagery, I construct a personal visual folklore that explores belonging, transformation, and the ways memory, emotion, and imagination shape my understanding of self.
